compete at the first ever regional cheme-sports!

This year’s Southern Regional Conference will feature a hybrid ChemE-Sports Competition on optimization and safety, open to all undergraduate AIChE student members, based on a gas treating unit with a Distributed Control System.

All competitors will work through multiple scenarios. The competitors will be given real-life scenarios that could be observed in a plant and an objective to complete within a given timeframe. Scoring will be based upon both the profitability and the safety of the unit during the simulated run for each team. 

  • Students may compete in groups of 1-4.

  • Please note that there is no competition fee for ChemE Sports thanks to our sponsors.

  • To register, fill out the following team registration form by priority deadline March 7th. If your team does not fill out this form ASAP, your team may miss important information sent from our ChemE Sports Chair, Carson Meyer.

  • 1:00 PM — 1:30 PM Round 1 Smooth Operator Round

  • 1:30 PM — 2:00 PM Round 2 Expert Round

  • 2:00 PM — 2:30 PM Round 3 Master of Disaster Round

  • 2:30 PM — 3:00 PM Round 4 Ultimate Controller Round

  • 3:00 PM — 3:30 PM Awards

- University of South Florida 2025 Southern Student Regional Conference Refund Policy -

Cancellations of individual registrations should be emailed to southernsrc2025@gmail.com no later than March 9th 11:59 pm ET will receive the opportunity for a full refund of ticket price, minus transaction fees. 

In addition, workshop refunds of 5 dollars will be refunded in the form of cash when picking up registration materials at the University of South Florida 2025 Southern Student Regional Conference. 

For the chance at a refund, please list the reason for why a cancellation is requested. After March 9th, no full registration refunds will be given.
