Research Poster Presentations

Showcase your research visually and verbally in the AIChE Undergraduate Student Poster Competition. Present your work to peers, professionals, and judges in a well-structured, engaging format.

General Information:

  • Eligibility: Open to undergraduate students participating in AIChE student chapters.
  • Deadline: Submit Abstracts by February 21st 11:59 pm
  • Poster Content:
    • Should include well-organized information, legible text, and clear visuals.
    • Must present adequate motivation, research findings, and meaningful analysis.

Presentation Format:

  • Poster Design:
    • Information must be easy to follow and logically organized.
    • Graphics and images should enhance understanding and stand alone without extensive explanation.
  • Verbal Presentation:
    • 2–3 minute summary delivered clearly and succinctly.
    • Speaker should address key details and recover easily from interruptions.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Poster Design: Organization, readability, and quality of visuals.
  • Verbal Presentation: Clear, organized delivery with pertinent details.
  • Research Quality: Adequate motivation, thorough analysis, and meaningful conclusions.
  • Q&A Performance: Ability to provide concise, accurate, and appropriate answers.

 

Technical Presentations

Participate in the AIChE Regional Student Technical Presentation Competition (STPC) and showcase your research or advancements in chemical engineering.

General Information:

  • Eligibility: Open to undergraduate students who are members of AIChE student chapters.
  • Topics: Focus on advancements in chemical engineering, original research, or plant design.
  • Judging Panel: Includes faculty, industry representatives, and AIChE local section members.
  • Deadline: Submit Abstracts by February 21st 11:59 pm

Presentation Rules:

  • Time Limits: 15 minutes for presentation and 3–5 minutes for Q&A.
  • Submission Guidelines: Presenters must have contributed significantly to the research. Use clear, concise visuals.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Nonverbal Skills: Eye contact, body language, and poise.
  • Verbal Skills: Clarity of speech, enthusiasm, and pronunciation.
  • Logistics: Includes timing, visuals, and mechanics.
  • Technical Content: Research knowledge, logical flow, and ability to answer questions.
  • Student Contribution: Level of involvement in designing, conducting, and analyzing experiments.

Awards:

  • 1st Place: $200 + Invitation to the AIChE Annual Student Conference.
  • 2nd Place: $100.
  • 3rd Place: $50.
